Chevy Camaro Will Compete in This Year’s Indy 500 Race
Chevrolet Camaro's special edition convertible has been selected for this year's Indy 500 race. This is a special year for both Chevrolet and Indy 500 as both celebrate their 100th anniversaries.
The first car among the 50 Indy 500 Festival Committee cars will be put up for an auction at the famous Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Classic Auto Auction. The proceeds will be donated to David Foster Foundation, a charity founded to support the families of children requiring organ transplants.
The Indy 500 2011 Pace cars and Festival cars will feature white exteriors and orange stripes along with door graphics, much like the 1969 Indy 500 Camaro Pace car
Including 2011, Chevrolet has participated 22 times in the Indy 500 race. This is more than any other manufacturer. The first Chevy to be selected as the Indy 500 Pace car was the 1948 Fleetmaster Six.
